The Glorious Hope Primitive Baptist Church originated over 100 years ago, in what was at the time Oklahoma Territory.  The church was originally located in Golden Valley, Oklahoma on land that was donated by the Yeldell family.  Many decades later, the church relocated to the south side of Stroud, Oklahoma. Unfortunately, the original Stroud church building suffered a fire. Out of this tragedy, the existing church members, which included Valeria Yeldell Gaines and Elnora Yeldell Beaird, collaborated together, in faith, to raise the necessary funds to reconstruct another building. Given the church’s menial resources at that time, some of their efforts included baking and crocheting to make the church’s new building a reality; and the building still stands today.

Throughout the years, the Stroud church building has supported programs that target the positive development of the youth in the community, which is the same type of inspiration that was given to many children in the past by the Church.

The heritage of The Glorious Hope Primitive Baptist Church is truly weaved in the efforts and faith of a few that inspire the current generation to carry on what their predecessors deemed their civic duty. As the church moves into its renaissance, we hope to continue to bring forth the light of Christ into the world!
